Chimney liners help ensure that smoke from a fire exits the home properly, and they also help preserve the state of your chimney. The fact that they serve such an important purpose is the reason why you’ll want to make sure your chimney liner is in good condition, and the best way to do that is by replacing your liner when it is too old or becomes damaged.

Three Signs It’s Time for a Chimney Liner Replacement

Here are three of the top signs that it’s time for a chimney liner replacement.

  1. Smoke Indoors. All homeowners would agree that smoke from the fire in your fireplace belongs outside, not inside. If your home becomes filled with smoke when you have a fire going in your fireplace, something is wrong with the chimney liner, and it needs to be replaced.
  1. Visual Damage. Another sign that you need a chimney liner replacement is any visible damage, including cracking. Poke your head into the interior of your chimney from time to time to make note of any signs indicating something is wrong with your chimney liner.
  1. Age. Chimney liners last a long time. Depending on your liner and how well your chimney has been maintained, your chimney liner may last upwards of 20 years. However, it’s best not to test your luck by assuming your liner will last a couple decades. As your chimney liner ages, be sure to talk with your chimney sweep during your annual chimney inspection about whether your liner is too old and should be replaced.

We are happy to offer chimney liner replacement as part of our chimney maintenance services here at The Chimney Sweep. If you want to make sure your chimney and all its parts are functioning the way that they should, be sure to give our team a call today.
